Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born on the 20th of October 1964. She is an American politician. Harris is the first female vice-president and the highest-ranking female official in U.S. History, as well the first African American and second Asian American vice president. She is a part of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. Additionally she served as an United States senator representing California between 2017-2021. Harris was born in Oakland and graduated from Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris began her career with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later appointed to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was the San Francisco district attorney. She was elected Attorney general of California in 2010. In 2014, she was re-elected. Harris was the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 to 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in 2016's Senate election to become the 2nd African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. As Senator, Harris was a vocal advocate for federal de-scheduling of healthcare, and cannabis legalization as a pathway to citizenship of undocumented immigrants, as well as the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. Her pointed questioning of Trump officials during Senate hearings earned her national attention, which included the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh who was indicted with sexual assault.
